Fortunium

Every now and then, a slot game comes along that takes on a new look and theme. We’ve noticed a few steampunk-themed slots popping up recently, and the Fortunium slot is one of those. You can try Fortunium slot mobile and desktop versions – the latter is available via download and instant play too, for maximum accessibility.

Who created Fortunium?

Microgaming is behind this game, in association with the dramatically-named Stormcraft Studios. Microgaming is a name you’ll no doubt be familiar with. They’ve come up with hundreds of other slots, a few of which we’ve mentioned below:

  • 108 Heroes
  • Bar Bar Black Sheep
  • Halloweenies
  • Jurassic Park

Exploring the design

We couldn’t help but take a moment to look at the detail in the background once the game had loaded and was ready to play (a quick process, which is good). Notice the smoke rising underneath the reels, which seems very in keeping with the grungy look of the cityscape behind them. The detail is wonderful, adding to the steampunk mood and theme of this game.

Basic features to look for as you play

The game dispenses with the usual 5 x 3 format you see in plenty of other slot games. Here, we get a 5 x 5 format instead. We also get lots of other elements to watch out for

  • 5 reels
  • 40 paylines
  • Choose coins worth between 1p and 50p a time
  • Play from one to 25 coins per line
  • The two characters in the game, Maximilian and Victoria, will appear as stacked full-height symbols on the reels

Check the paytable as well, so you can find out about some special symbols in play here.

Wild:

  • Appears in a square design featuring gold and brown colours
  • There is a W in the middle
  • Substitutes for everything else in Fortunium other than the scatter

Scatter:

  • A circular symbol with gold and silver elements to it
  • It has a green glowing interior – an orb, perhaps?
  • This can trigger one of the bonuses mentioned below

Bonuses to try and find in the Fortunium slot

Ah, we do like a good bonus, and there are some great elements in action here. Could you win a small fortune from Fortunium if you get lucky in this instance?

Stacked mystery symbols:

Randomly-occurring stacks of mystery symbols might appear on any spin. They will all change into the same symbol when revealed – but cannot change into the scatter. They can go wild though, and in any case, they could help you win more prizes.

Win some free spins:

Here’s how:

  1. Get a minimum of three green scatters
  2. 10 free games are awarded to you
  3. Three scatters bring one reel filled with mystery symbols into play
  4. Four scatters bring two reels full of mystery symbols into play
  5. Five scatters bring you three reels of mystery symbols to enjoy

The mystery reels will be selected from the middle three reels. Furthermore, whenever a new scatter lands on the reels in a free spin, another free spin is added for you.

Choosing a workable strategy

The game features a win booster that requires an extra stake of 50% on top of your regular bet. It means you’ll get mystery symbols that will always be wild or the highest-value symbols on the paytable. However, we wouldn’t recommend the extra bet unless you have a larger budget.

Smaller budgets will go further if you make sure you choose a low-value coin, and place just one on each line. Playing all 40 lines will maximise your odds of winning as many prizes as possible.
